The Polaris General is a do-it-all machine: part trail rider, part work horse. Owners who push it into deeper mud and bigger rocks eventually want it taller, with tires to match. That is the job portals do best.
The SuperATV Polaris General 8″ Portal Gear Lift, available at Wild Boar ATV Parts, adds a gearbox at each corner that lifts the hub and adds gear reduction at the same time.
Lift without bad angles
With a portal, the wheel hub sits below the axle line, so the General rises without forcing the axles and suspension into steep angles. That helps the machine keep its handling while sitting much higher.
Reduction for big tires
Large tires are hard on clutches and belts because they make the engine work harder to get rolling. The gears inside each portal box multiply torque at the wheel, which makes it easier for the General to turn bigger, heavier tires in mud, sand and steep climbs.
Wider and more planted. This kit increases width by 4 inches per side, 8 inches total, with 1.5 inches of forward and rear offset. A wider stance helps balance the extra height and keeps a lifted General more stable on side hills.
Inside the kit
SuperATV uses cool, quiet, precision-ground gears of 9310 alloy billet steel and a 1.5-inch diameter driveshaft of 4340 hardened steel. Housings come in billet or cast aluminum and are sealed with advanced gaskets and rubber O-rings. The kit includes:
- Four assembled portal hub boxes with 9310 gears, seals, output shafts and gaskets
- Four universal hubs
- Four stainless steel slotted rotors
- Extended brake lines and all required hardware
Portals also add maintenance. Each hub box holds gear oil that should be checked regularly, especially after deep water crossings or long days in the mud. Staying on top of that keeps the gears cool and quiet and protects your investment, so your General keeps performing season after season.
Think it through first
Eight inches of lift and 8 inches of width change how the General fits a trailer, a garage and narrow trails. Measure before you buy. Plan for tires, wheels and axles as part of the same project.
