“How hard is it to put on?” That is the first question we hear about radiator relocation kits. For the newer Sportsman, the honest answer is that it is a manageable garage job for anyone who is comfortable with basic hand tools and coolant.
Our Polaris Sportsman 450-570 Radiator Relocation Kit for 2021 and newer models moves the radiator up and out of the mud so it stays clear and keeps the engine cooling the way it should.
What is included
The kit comes with the relocation bracket and all the mounting hardware needed to put it on. That is the core of the job: a solid mount that holds the radiator in its new position, plus the bolts and pieces to secure it. Reading through everything before you start helps you see how it all goes together.
An overview of the job
Every install is a little different, but the general flow looks like this:
- Park on level ground and let the engine cool completely.
- Drain the coolant into a clean pan.
- Remove the parts that block access to the stock radiator.
- Mount the relocation bracket and set the radiator in its new home.
- Reconnect everything, refill the coolant and bleed out any air.
- Run the machine, watch the temperature and check every connection for leaks.
Take your time on the refill and bleed. Trapped air can cause hot spots and make it look like something is wrong when it is not. After the first ride, check the coolant level again once the engine has cooled and top it off if needed.
Why it is worth the afternoon
In stock position, the radiator sits low enough to get packed with mud. Once the fins are caked over, air cannot pass through and the Sportsman starts to run hot. Moving it up keeps the core cleaner, makes washing it out easier and helps prevent the overheating and damage that come with a clogged radiator.
Fitment notes
This kit is for 2021 and newer Sportsman 450 and 570 models. It does not fit Touring models, so double-check your machine before ordering. We also make a version for older Sportsmans, so match the kit to your year. If you are unsure, call the Wild Boar shop and we will make sure you get the right one.
