Why the Razorback M/T Rim Guard Matters Off Road

A wheel can take plenty of abuse on an ATV or UTV. Deep ruts, exposed roots, rocks, and debris all bring the edge of the rim closer to impact. That is why the Wild Boar Razorback M/T includes a rim guard as part of the tire’s sidewall design.

Protection where the wheel needs it

The rim guard creates an extra raised area near the bead and outer wheel lip. It is intended to help separate the wheel edge from debris that might otherwise make direct contact. It cannot prevent every type of damage, but it adds a useful layer of protection for machines that spend time away from smooth roads.

Useful in ruts and technical terrain

When a tire drops into a rut, the sidewall and wheel can brush against packed dirt, roots, or rock. The Razorback M/T’s rim guard helps shield the wheel edge during those close encounters. That is valuable whether the machine is working around property, traveling a wooded trail, or pushing through a mud park.

Part of a complete mud-tire design

The rim guard works alongside the 6-ply construction, 1.5-inch center lugs, and 2-inch shoulder lugs. Those features address different needs: traction, durability, side bite, and wheel-edge protection. Together they make the tire better suited to demanding off-road use.

Inspection still matters

After a hard ride, wash away mud and inspect the tire, bead area, and wheel. Look for cuts, trapped debris, unusual air loss, or visible impact marks. A protective feature is most effective when paired with regular maintenance and correct tire pressure.
